Salt River Fields is proud to host spring training for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies, giving fans plenty of chances to interact with their favorite players. Since the mid-1980s, West World's multiple fairgrounds, convenient parking for spectators and exhibitors, comfortable stables and easy access have contributed to the continued growth and prestige of this unique show. In the early 1980s, Arabian horse owners and breeders from all over the world were flocking to the February Arab equestrian exhibition in Scottsdale with their top-quality animals. Two years later, Bud Adams, a longtime resident of Scottsdale, who was then president of the Arabian Horse Club of New Mexico, received a phone call from an Arab breeder in California. Witnessing beautiful Arabian horses perform under the bright, clear Arizona sun is an unforgettable experience.

This is a fast-paced event in which the horse and rider demonstrate their ability to “lock” a cow at one end of the sand and then make it run along the fence until it makes dizzying stops and turns. Major annual events held at WestWorld include the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, the Barrett-Jackson classic car auction and the Sun Country Quarter Horse and Reining Circuit. The proceeds from the 48th Scottsdale Arab Equestrian Expo will go to March of Dimes, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Phoenix Children's Hospital. Arabian horse owners from all 50 states and more than a dozen countries around the world will do their best to compete in this 10-day festival.

Previous challenges included an upside-down horse race, riding bareback, or finding the boots in a messy pile, putting them on, and running to the finish line. By the mid-20th century, Arabian horse enthusiasts in Arizona had begun to think that the Valley of the Sun could be an ideal place to show their favorite breed to the rest of the world. For more than 30 years, some of America's best horses have come to Arizona to attend one of the largest Quarter Horse shows in the world.
